Pokémon Scarlet is a role-playing game (RPG) developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. Released alongside Pokémon Violet in November 2022, Pokémon Scarlet marks the ninth generation of the Pokémon series, set in the open-world region of Paldea, inspired by the Iberian Peninsula. The game introduces a new generation of Pokémon, a fresh storyline, and an expansive, fully open-world environment for players to explore.

In Pokémon Scarlet, you play as a young Pokémon Trainer who embarks on a journey to become the Champion of the Paldea region. The game features a more open-ended structure, allowing you to tackle the region’s gym battles, story missions, and side quests in any order. This includes the Victory Road path to become Champion, the Path of Legends where you hunt for powerful Titan Pokémon, and the Starfall Street quest to take down rebellious Team Star. With no linear progression, players are free to explore Paldea at their own pace and follow their own adventure.

One of the key features of Pokémon Scarlet is the inclusion of the Terastal phenomenon, a new mechanic that allows Pokémon to undergo a Terastalization, changing their type and enhancing their abilities during battle. The game also introduces new Pokémon like Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, along with a new Legendary Pokémon named Koraidon, which players can ride across the open world. With multiplayer functionality, players can also connect with others to explore the region, battle, or trade Pokémon, making Pokémon Scarlet a dynamic and engaging entry in the Pokémon series that blends traditional gameplay with modern open-world elements.
